25 East End Avenue was the first apartment building to be completed on East End Avenue. Designed by the well respected architectural firm of Cross and Cross in 1929, it became the harbringer of many limestone buildings to be erected on the Avenue. The limestone clad building has a particularly beautiful lobby which remains virtually unchanged from the original. It is distinguished by the polished black and white marble floor with a fireplace surmounted by a starburst clock and an elaborately carved entry with broken pediment.
The white glove building is comprised of 4 bedroom duplexes, classic 5 room simplexes and one bedrooms with 26’ living rooms. Many of these apartments have sweeping River views. There is a particularly warm and helpful staff 24/7, many of whom are long time employees. Pets welcome.
Nearby is Carl Schurz Park masterfully landscaped with children’s play area, dog walks and runners’ esplanade. Many schools are in the area as well as Fairway and small friendly restaurants. This is a serene and peaceful enclave.
