Beethoven Hall was converted to 4 residential condominium units and one commercial unit in 2004. Circa 1860, Beethoven Hall was a gathering place for social events and meetings. It is said that Emma Goldman and William Randolph Hearst made rousing speeches here. Beethoven Hall played an important role in the Women’s Suffrage movement and meetings here helped lead to sweeping changes in labor laws and women’s rights. In 1890 it housed a meeting of the American Bowling Congress which standardized rules for the game and initiated national competitions as well as a boxing match between Joe Bernstein and Tommy Daly; and in 1915 the formation of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America. By the 1940s the building became a television studio; Mother’s Sound Stages and episodes of “The Honeymooners” are said to have been filmed there. Today, it is a quiet residential condominium allowing for joint live/work quarters. There is basement storage with 12+/- foot ceiling height included with each unit. Well-managed with low common charges.
