17 East 96th street is a full service, prewar coop located just off Fifth Avenue, less than a block from Central Park. This highly desirable section of lovely Carnegie Hill is a stone’s throw from the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir. Designed by architects Sugarman, Hess & Berger, the building was built in 1924. The lovely, landmarked block of 96th street between Fifth and Madison is home to prewar buildings by the most renowned architects of the 1920s, including three remaining limestone Beaux-Arts townhouses by architect Ogden Codman, Jr (7,12 and 15 East 96th), two buildings by J.E.R. Carpenter (1148 and 1150 Fifth Avenue), and one building by Rosario Candela (8 East 96th Street).

17 East 96th Street has 17 floors and 61 apartments, some of which feature side views of Central Park. There are a mix of apartment sizes, from one to three bedrooms, all designed with gracious floor plans. The building has 24-hour door staff, a live in Resident Manager, and additional support staff. With only four apartments per floor, the building has a boutique feel. Amenities include a new gym, storage and bike storage, and a laundry room. 75% financing is allowed, pied-a-terres are permitted (with board approval), and the building is pet friendly. The convenient location is within a short walk of Museum Mile along Fifth Avenue, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Guggenheim, the Cooper Hewitt, the Neue Galerie, and the Museum of the City of New York, as well as many desirable public and private schools of the Upper East Side.
