Building: 150 West 26th Street

150 West 26th Street is a former fur vault building built in 1923 that was converted from artists’ lofts into condominium apartments in 2002. Nine stories in height with a recently constructed penthouse on top, this building has had its two elevators completely renovated with new digital duplex controls that coordinate their function and cabs that can easily accommodate several passengers. Most floors of the building are divided into three lofts with predominantly north or south exposures. Windows are all double-hung, double-glazed and can be tilted in for window washing ease of access.

Lofts range from one to three bedrooms and one to three baths in size. The building was converted and plumbing cores were added to provide accessible and legal connections for two to three baths per loft. The building recently gained its permanent C of O from the Department of Buildings, which greatly simplifies alteration application permit process and mortgage approvals. This is a well managed, sought after building whose units are rarely available in an area of Chelsea that it helped pioneer and make fashionable.
