142 Fifth Avenue is a 10-story neo-Renaissance loft building located at the corner of 19th and Fifth Avenue. The building is an L-shaped structure and the cooperative is comprised of two loft buildings, a 10-unit residential building lobby entrance at 142 Fifth Avenue and 10-unit commercial cooperative lobby entrance at 5 West 19th Street. The building boasts 28’ of Fifth Avenue frontage and 170 feet along West 19th Street. Built for real estate developer Henry Corn and designed by architect Robert Maynicke, circa 1899 in a Beaux-Arts style. Beautiful cornices adorn the building and it is comprised of limestone, brick and terra cotta. The full floors total 9200+/-SF. 142 Fifth Avenue lofts are approximately 2700+/- SF full-floor lofts with key-locked elevator access and the commercial units are 6500 +/- SF. The rear freight elevator provides access to both the commercial and residential units. They also share a management company, porters and a superintendent (who delivers packages to your door). The penthouse added an 11th floor to the 142 Fifth Avenue structure and an outdoor terrace. Publisher Rand McNally was a former tenant from 1902-1905. Other tenants include milliners, upholsterers and piano manufacturers. The full-floor residential lofts at 142 Fifth Avenue are all uniquely designed.
