Building: 126 University Place

The Claremont Lofts at Union Square were built in 2004 by the developer, The Claremont Group, and the architect, Arpad Baksa. 126 University Place is perfectly located between 13th and 14th Streets just steps from Whole Foods, the Farmer’s Market, Union Square Park, and public transportation. The façade of the building is a mix of both smooth-honed and split-faced limestone, which alternates on each floor to give a perception of a solid stone which has been carved away to reveal the layers underneath. This boutique condominium loft building consists of five apartments on six floors – with commercial space on the ground floor. Every apartment has private outdoor space and they are all accessed by a key-locked elevator. Floors two through five are all full-floor apartments which offer two bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms with a den that ranges in size between 1,935 and 2,202 square feet. The penthouse is a duplex with three bedrooms, three bathrooms and is 2,484 square feet. Each apartment comes with a gas fireplace, central air and heat, a video intercom system, an open chef’s kitchen, a washer/dryer, and private storage in the basement.
