Building: 117 East 24th Street

Located one short block from Madison Square Park, 117 East 24th Street,
is a 12-story pre-war loft building, circa 1920, now known as the
“Madison Square Condominium”. Designed by famed architects Mulliken &
Moeller the building has beautiful design elements such as grey
limestone cornices-like bands, ornamental brickwork, and a pediment
gracing the top of the facade.

Measuring an impressive 46 feet in width, the building features an array
of apartments with luxury full-floor loft residences, spanning up to
4,100 square feet and ceiling heights over 11 feet. The majority of the
building is residential with several floors used as professional space.
There is an on-site office and building manager on duty Monday through
Friday, from 9AM to 5PM. The building manager is available to assist
residents and conducts daily trash removal. The building recently had a
major update, converting its heating system from oil to gas.

The retail space in the lobby is home to the Manhattan Saddlery, one of
the oldest equestrian equipment and apparel shops in New York and
remains a symbol of the neighborhood’s historic significance. For much
of the 20th century, Madison Square Park, was an “equine epicenter”.
Also located on 24th Street, was Fiss, Doerr & Carroll Auction Mart ,
“the largest horse dealership in the world”, according to an 1895
advertisement.
