This building was completed in 1924 and was designed by the renowned architect J.E.R. Carpenter. Besides 1150, his other buildings along Fifth Avenue, include its sister building 1148, 1030, 1035, 1060, 1115, 1120, 1143,1165 and 1170.

The 15 story building consists of two wings with separate passenger and freight elevator service.

The 15 story building consists of two wings with separate passenger and freight elevator service. All of the elevators have been modernized and feature optional concierge directed control for the passenger elevators. The building has 70 residential apartments and three professional units in the large recently renovated lobby.

The westerly wing generally has two apartments per floor, consisting predominantly of eight and nine-room apartments, with direct views of Central Park. The easterly wing has three apartments per floor, comprising spacious six-room apartments of various configurations with partial park views. There are also two penthouse units with expansive outdoor terrace space on the roof level.

1150 Fifth Avenue has 24-hour door service (with two-person coverage during peak hours), a live-in Resident Manager and additional support staff. The building is maintained to a high caliber and has undergone several major façade restorations. Most apartments convey with a storage bin. The building also features a large well-equipped fitness center with an extensive array of cardio and strength equipment. A sizable furnished and landscaped roof deck was constructed in the summer of 2019. Other amenities include an indoor bike room an outdoor bike shed, an updated central laundry (individual W/D permitted) and the building is also pet-friendly. The building allows up to 70% financing and there is a 2% transfer fee.

Besides Central Park and its numerous amenities, the building is located on Fifth Avenue and 96th street along Museum Mile in Carnegie Hill, within easy walking distance of the Metropolitan Museum, the Guggenheim and many other cultural attractions, shops, and restaurants.
